Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Friday announced that girls in the state will be brought under the Centre’s ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme.
Adhikari claimed that the scheme had not been implemented by the previous TMC government in the state.
Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao aims to address the declining child sex ratio, improve access to education, reduce school dropouts and create awareness about menstrual health and hygiene.
The scheme focuses on promoting the welfare, education and empowerment of girls across the country.
