New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid tribute to those affected by the Partition of India, recalling the immense suffering endured by families who were uprooted, lost loved ones and were forced to rebuild their lives amid adversity.
Marking Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, Modi said the day is an occasion to remember the courage and resilience of all those impacted by Partition.
In a series of posts on X, the Prime Minister said Partition “tore apart several lives”, with families being uprooted, loved ones lost and immense suffering endured.
At the same time, he noted that many people overcame the hardships, rebuilt their lives from scratch, transformed adversity into achievement and made significant contributions to the progress of the country.
“Their life journeys remind us of the strength of the human spirit,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that Partition Horrors Remembrance Day would strengthen the country’s resolve to preserve harmony and brotherhood and collectively work towards building a Viksit Bharat.
He also paid heartfelt tributes to those who emerged from the traumatic period and made invaluable contributions to the nation’s development.
“Through their courage and capability, they showed how resolutions are accomplished even in adverse circumstances,” Modi said, calling upon people to further strengthen the spirit of goodwill and solidarity.
Sharing a Subhashitam, the Prime Minister also underlined the importance of hard work, enterprise and dedicated effort in achieving success. He said that diverse fields such as arts, science, technology, craftsmanship and innovation flourish through sustained human endeavour.
Modi stressed that people should not remain dependent on fate but should move steadily towards their goals with courage, diligence and perseverance.
“It is human endeavour that shapes destiny,” he said.
