Historian Sumit Sarkar Dies at 87

New Delhi: Eminent historian Sumit Sarkar died at his Delhi residence on Thursday due to age-related ailments. He was 87.

Historian and family friend G Arunima said Sarkar had been unwell for a long time and had been facing age-related health issues in recent years.

Sarkar is survived by his wife, historian Tanika Sarkar, and son Aditya Sarkar, an associate professor of South Asian History at the University of Warwick.
