New Delhi: The Central government on Tuesday summoned a senior Meta executive after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Facebook post on India’s youth and the government’s commitment to taking strict action against examination paper leaks was briefly restricted on the platform.
Although the US-based social media company attributed the incident to a technical glitch and issued an apology, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) said the explanation was “inadequate.”
According to sources, the IT Ministry has summoned Meta’s Global Head of Public Policy, who oversees Facebook and Instagram, to seek an explanation over the incident. The government is expected to seek clarity on the circumstances that led to the temporary restriction of the Prime Minister’s post.
