KSEB Announces Power Restrictions in Kerala Today Amid Electricity Shortage

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has announced that partial power restrictions will be imposed across the state during peak hours on Thursday due to the prevailing electricity shortage.

The move comes as Kerala continues to face a worsening power crisis. Authorities are making efforts to bridge the supply gap by procuring electricity from outside the state, but the situation has made temporary power regulation unavoidable.

State Electricity Minister Sunny Joseph had earlier said that power restrictions could not be avoided under the current circumstances. He attributed the crisis to reduced rainfall, a sharp increase in electricity consumption, lower hydropower generation within the state, and the obligation to return previously borrowed power.

The KSEB has urged consumers to use electricity judiciously, especially during peak hours, to help ease the demand on the power grid.
