Leh: Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Tuesday inaugurated the Udmaroo Bridge over the Shayok River in Nubra district, a major infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and promoting tourism in the region.
Built at a cost of ₹27.18 crore, the bridge will provide year-round access to the Buddhist pilgrimage site of Sham Gombo (Yarma Gonbo) and ensure seamless all-weather connectivity for residents and visitors.
According to officials, the bridge will shorten the travel distance between Udmaroo and Hundri villages and Terchey and Skuru villages by nearly 35 kilometres, significantly reducing travel time.
The project is also expected to strengthen religious tourism and support the socio-economic development of Nubra by improving access across the region.
