New Delhi: The winners of the 72nd National Film Awards were announced on Saturday, with Malayalam superstar Mammootty sharing the Best Actor honour with Kartik Aaryan. Mammootty received the award for his performance in Bramayugam, while Kartik Aaryan was recognised for Chandu Champion.
Article 370 was named the Best Feature Film, while its lead actress Yami Gautam won the Best Actress award. Director Rajkumar Periasamy was honoured with the Best Director award for Amaran.
The Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment award went to Kalki 2898 AD.
In the music category, Vaikom Jayalakshmi won the Best Female Playback Singer award for her song in the Malayalam film ARM.
In the Feature Film category, the Malayalam film Feminichi Fathima also received a National Award.
The jury for this year’s awards was headed by acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker Jayaraj. The 11-member panel finalised the winners across various language categories earlier this month.
