Dehradun: More than 15,600 litres of restricted chemicals, including sorbitol used in the manufacture of cough syrups and medicines, were seized during a joint raid in Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar district on Thursday, officials said.
The operation was carried out by the Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF), state police, and the Excise Department at a warehouse in Lalpur, Kichha. Authorities recovered around 15,650 litres of ethanol, glucose, and sorbitol stored in 108 drums.
Officials also found 78 empty drums at the warehouse. Further investigation is underway to determine the source and intended use of the seized chemicals.
