Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rainfall is expected to continue across Kerala, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting intense showers over the Malabar region on Thursday.
Although no rain alerts have been issued for the day, the northern districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall. In view of the adverse weather conditions, educational institutions in Kozhikode, Wayanad and Malappuram districts have been declared closed on Thursday. The holiday applies to all educational institutions, including professional colleges.
The IMD has withdrawn the Orange and Red alerts that were in force earlier. However, rainfall is expected to continue on Friday as well.
Meanwhile, fishing has been prohibited along the Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts due to rough sea conditions, and fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
