M Modi Attends Seychelles’ 50th Independence Day Celebrations as Guest of Honour

Seychelles: Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 50th anniversary celebrations of Seychelles’ Independence as the Guest of Honour at the invitation of President Dr. Patrick Herminie. He became the first Indian Prime Minister to participate in the island nation’s Independence Day celebrations.

The event also marked 50 years of diplomatic relations between India and Seychelles, highlighting the enduring partnership between the two countries.

To commemorate the twin milestones, contingents of the Indian Armed Forces participated in the national parade celebrating Seychelles’ Golden Jubilee of Independence. The Indian contingent included personnel from the Assam Rifles, the Indian Navy, and the Indian Navy Marching Band, showcasing the strong defence cooperation between the two nations.

As part of the celebrations, Indian Naval Ships INS Tarkash and INS Ikshak docked at Port Victoria, in keeping with longstanding tradition.

Prime Minister Modi’s participation underscored the deep-rooted friendship and strategic partnership between India and Seychelles, reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with the Indian Ocean nation.
