Union Minister Suresh Gopi to Inaugurate ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’ in Thrissur

Khet Bachao Abhiyan, a month-long nationwide intensive awareness campaign launched by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, is being conducted across the country from June 1 to June 30, 2026. The campaign aims to protect soil health, promote balanced fertilizer use, encourage soil test-based nutrient management, and popularize sustainable agricultural practices.

The initiative seeks to create awareness among farmers about the harmful effects of excessive and imbalanced use of chemical fertilizers on agricultural land and the importance of safeguarding soil health for long-term productivity.

The campaign is also expected to strengthen collaboration among research institutions, extension agencies, government departments, and farmers. Through seminars, awareness classes, technical demonstrations, and field-level interventions, farmers will gain practical knowledge on sustainable nutrient management and climate-resilient agriculture.

Khet Bachao Abhiyan is more than an awareness programme; it is a call for responsible and sustainable farming. By protecting soil health today, the campaign aims to ensure better productivity, higher farmer incomes, safe food production, and a healthier environment for future generations.

The inaugural function of the campaign will be held at the Dharmasastha Temple Hall on June 9, 2026, at 10 a.m. The programme will be inaugurated by Suresh Gopi.
