The Centre has reduced the windfall gains tax on exports of petrol, diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF), with the revised rates coming into effect from June 1.
According to a notification issued by the Finance Ministry, the tax on petrol exports has been halved to ₹1.50 per litre. The levy on diesel exports has been reduced to ₹13.50 per litre, while the tax on ATF exports has been cut to ₹9.50 per litre.
The government has also announced that the road and infrastructure cess on exports of petrol and diesel will be nil.
However, there will be no change in the existing duty rates on petrol and diesel meant for domestic consumption, the notification said.
The move is expected to provide relief to fuel exporters while maintaining the current tax structure for the domestic market.
