PM Modi Holds Talks with Finland PM on Sidelines of India-Nordic Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held bilateral talks with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo on the sidelines of the 3rd India-Nordic Summit in Oslo.

The two leaders reviewed the progress of bilateral relations and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in trade, technology and innovation.

Both sides welcomed the steady growth in trade in goods and services despite global economic challenges and reaffirmed their commitment to doubling bilateral trade by 2030.

The leaders also appreciated the growing presence of leading technology companies from India and Finland in each other’s markets through expanded partnerships and investments.

The Finnish side acknowledged the contribution of Indian professionals to Finland’s technology and innovation sectors.

During the meeting, the two countries also announced that India and Finland will jointly host the World Circular Economic Forum in September 2026 in Gandhinagar.

The leaders noted that India and Finland share warm and multifaceted ties rooted in democratic values. They also expressed satisfaction over the progress of the India-European Union Strategic Partnership and stressed the importance of the early implementation of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement.

Regional and global developments, along with cooperation in international organisations, also figured in the discussions.
