The Tripura government has directed that 50 per cent of Group C and Group D employees should work from home with immediate effect, according to an official memorandum issued on Wednesday.
The order was issued following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal urging citizens and institutions to conserve fuel and adopt work-from-home arrangements wherever possible.
In the memorandum, Special Secretary of the General Administration Department A K Bhattacharjee instructed Heads of Departments to ensure that only half of the Group C and D staff attend offices daily, while the remaining employees work remotely.
The state government said the move is aimed at reducing fuel consumption and easing operational costs amid the current situation.
