Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Himanta Biswa Sarma after he was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Assam for a second consecutive term on Tuesday.
In his message, Modi said the NDA’s return to power for a third straight term reflects the confidence people have placed in the alliance. He also appreciated Sarma’s leadership and his efforts towards the development of Assam over the past years.
The swearing-in ceremony took place in Guwahati and was attended by several senior BJP and NDA leaders from across the country.
With the BJP-led alliance securing another victory in the Assembly elections, the new government is expected to continue its focus on infrastructure, welfare schemes and economic growth in the state.
