Delhi Govt Launches ‘Aftercare Scheme’ for Orphaned Children

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday announced the launch of the ‘Aftercare Scheme’ aimed at supporting and rehabilitating children leaving institutional care after turning 18.

Describing it as a special initiative ahead of Mother’s Day, Rekha Gupta said the government wants to ensure that no child feels abandoned after reaching adulthood.

Under the scheme, assistance and continued support will be provided to orphaned and vulnerable children transitioning out of childcare institutions.

The Delhi government has allocated Rs 3.5 crore for the scheme in the 2026-27 budget presented in the Assembly earlier this year.
