Tight Security in Kolkata Ahead of BJP Government Swearing-In Ceremony

Kolkata has been placed under tight security ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the new BJP government at Brigade Parade Grounds on Saturday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several chief ministers from BJP-ruled states expected to attend.

Kolkata Police has imposed extensive traffic restrictions across key parts of the city and announced a ban on drones, UAVs, balloons, glider aircraft and other small non-scheduled flying objects within a three-kilometre radius of the venue.

The restrictions will remain in force from 6 am to 6 pm on May 9 up to an altitude of 500 metres around Brigade Parade Ground.

Police said the measures were introduced to prevent potential security threats and ensure strict safety arrangements during the visit of VVIPs and other dignitaries attending the ceremony.
