The Registrar General of India has directed district magistrates and municipal commissioners across the country to identify vulnerable areas that could affect the smooth and fair conduct of the Census.
In its directive, the RGI asked officials to carry out a detailed, village-wise mapping exercise to identify habitations, communities, and segments of people who may face threats, intimidation, or any form of interference during the Census process.
The move comes amid concerns that certain regions could be left out due to inaccessibility or challenging socio-economic conditions. Authorities have been instructed to ensure that no population group is excluded from enumeration.
Officials have been specifically asked to conduct a revenue village-level assessment to pinpoint areas where the Census process may be hindered, and to take necessary measures to address such challenges.
The initiative aims to strengthen the integrity and inclusiveness of the Census, ensuring accurate data collection across all sections of society.
