New Delhi: The Government of India is closely monitoring developments in West Asia and has taken steps to ensure stability in key sectors, including energy supply, transport, and the safety of Indian nationals abroad.
Officials said there is no shortage of LPG, with over 52.3 lakh domestic cylinders delivered on April 11 and no reports of supply disruptions. Authorities have urged citizens to avoid panic buying and rely on official information.
Strict enforcement measures are underway to curb hoarding and black marketing, with more than 2,700 raids conducted recently. Public sector oil companies have penalised 219 LPG distributors and suspended 56 distributorships.
The government has also promoted alternative fuels, with over 4.24 lakh PNG connections activated since March and more than 4.66 lakh new registrations recorded.
Meanwhile, port operations across the country remain normal, and no congestion has been reported. Retail fuel outlets are functioning as usual, with petrol and diesel prices unchanged.
On the international front, efforts continue to ensure the safety of Indian nationals in the region. Nearly 8.97 lakh passengers have travelled from West Asia to India since February 28, with flights operating through alternative routes where required.
The government reiterated its commitment to maintaining energy security and supporting citizens during the ongoing geopolitical situation.
