Missing Kerala woman trekker found safe in Tadiandamol Hills after four-day search

Kodagu: A 36-year-old woman from Kerala who went missing while trekking in the Tadiandamol Hills in Karnataka’s Kodagu district has been found safe after a four-day search, officials said on Sunday.

According to the office of Karnataka Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre, the woman, identified as G.S. Sharanya, is safe and is being brought back.

Sharanya, a native of Nadapuram in Kozhikode district and an IT professional based in Kochi, had travelled alone for trekking to Tadiandamol Hills, the highest peak in Kodagu.

She was initially advised against trekking due to elephant presence in the forest area and had checked into a private homestay in Yavakappadi. However, officials said she later proceeded with the trek after reportedly receiving permission from the forest department.

A search operation was launched after she went missing, and she was traced after four days. Authorities have not reported any injuries, and further details about the circumstances leading to her disappearance are awaited.
