Washington DC: The NASA has released the first images captured during its Artemis II mission, offering a striking view of Earth as seen from space during the spacecraft’s journey around the Moon.
According to a report by Al Jazeera, the images show Earth as a small, luminous sphere against the vast darkness of space, highlighting the planet’s fragility and isolation.
The photographs were taken from the Orion spacecraft as part of Artemis II, NASA’s first crewed mission under its Artemis programme aimed at returning humans to the Moon.
Officials said the images mark a significant milestone, not just technologically but symbolically, as they revive perspectives similar to the iconic “Earthrise” images from the Apollo era.
The Artemis II mission is designed to test life-support systems and spacecraft performance with astronauts onboard, paving the way for future lunar landings under subsequent missions.
NASA described the visuals as a reminder of Earth’s uniqueness and the importance of continued space exploration.
