Kannur: Senior Congress leader K Sudhakaran is likely to contest the upcoming Assembly elections from Kannur as an independent candidate.
According to sources, his name has not been included in the candidate list of the Indian National Congress. Earlier, the party high command and the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) had made it clear that sitting Members of Parliament should not contest in the Assembly elections.
However, Sudhakaran has taken a firm stand that he wants to contest from Kannur, going against the party’s decision. His move is seen as a sign of disagreement within the party over candidate selection.
If he goes ahead with the decision, it could lead to political tension in the constituency and pose a challenge for the Congress in Kannur.
