Kerala High Court Admits State Appeal in Actress Assault Case; Notice Issued to Dileep and Others

Kochi: The Kerala High Court has admitted the appeal filed by the Kerala government in the high-profile actress assault case in Kochi and issued notices to the accused, including actor Dileep.

The court accepted the state government’s appeal challenging the trial court verdict that had acquitted the accused in the case. Following this, the High Court directed that notices be served to the accused.

The notices will be issued to the acquitted persons through the Station House Officer (SHO) of Nedumbassery police station.

The state government approached the High Court pointing out what it described as serious lapses in the trial court’s judgment. A detailed appeal running to around 300 pages was submitted highlighting these concerns.

Through the appeal, the government has sought a re-examination of the trial court’s decision that acquitted the accused. Further proceedings in the case will be taken up by the High Court after the accused receive the notices.
