Middle East on Brink: Death Toll in Iran Crosses 550 as US–Israel Offensive Escalates

Tehran: The Middle East is witnessing a dramatic surge in violence as the death toll in Iran has climbed past 550 following intensified military strikes by the United States and Israel. According to the Iranian Red Crescent Society, at least 555 people have been killed within just two days, with 131 cities reportedly hit in the ongoing offensive. Among the most shocking incidents was an airstrike on a school in southern Iran, where nearly 180 people are feared dead. As air raids and missile attacks continue across multiple regions, Iran has responded with forceful retaliatory strikes, raising fears of a wider regional war.

The conflict has also spilled into neighboring Lebanon, where Israeli airstrikes have left 31 people dead and 149 injured, according to the country’s Health Ministry. Reports indicate that Israel may further intensify operations against Hezbollah, potentially including ground action. In the Gulf region, four additional deaths have been reported amid the escalating hostilities. The United States has confirmed that three of its soldiers were killed in Iran’s counterattacks. With tensions soaring and casualties mounting, global leaders are urging restraint as the region edges closer to a full-scale and prolonged conflict.
