New Delhi: The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on Friday as persistent Opposition protests continued to disrupt proceedings, forcing the House to defer its sitting until February 9. The repeated interruptions have taken a heavy toll on parliamentary work, with officials confirming that 19 hours and 13 minutes of scheduled business have already been lost due to disruptions in the Lower House.
The political temperature rose further with sharp exchanges and light banter between Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw over remarks related to Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu. While the government accused the Opposition of deliberately stalling important legislative discussions, the Opposition maintained that protests were necessary to demand accountability, leaving Parliament locked in a continuing stalemate.
