New Delhi: Senior officials from India and the United Kingdom will meet in New Delhi on Tuesday for a two-day international symposium to discuss the growing challenges of substance abuse and narcotics trafficking.
The discussions will focus on tackling emerging drug threats, including synthetic narcotics, cyber-enabled drug trafficking, and substance abuse, in line with the objectives of India’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and international conventions.
Attorney General R. Venkataramani will inaugurate the symposium as the chief guest. The opening session will also be addressed by Ben Mellor, Charge d’Affaires at the British High Commission, and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Director General Anurag Garg.
The symposium is jointly organised by the Government of the United Kingdom and the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Delhi Campus. It aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation and develop coordinated strategies to combat evolving drug-related challenges through policy dialogue, scientific collaboration, and law enforcement cooperation.
