US Embassy Warns B1, B2 Visa Holders Against Misuse; Violations Could Lead to Travel Ban

New Delhi: The US Embassy in India has issued a strong warning to holders of B1 (business) and B2 (tourist) visas, stating that any form of visa misuse or overstaying beyond the permitted period could result in a permanent travel ban to the United States.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the embassy cautioned that consular officers have the authority to reject visa applications for various reasons. The embassy said that if, during the visa interview, a consular officer believes that an applicant does not intend to comply with the terms of a visitor visa, the application may be denied.

“Using your visa correctly is your responsibility,” the embassy said, urging travelers to clearly understand what activities are permitted and prohibited while visiting the United States. The warning emphasised strict adherence to US immigration laws.

The advisory comes shortly after the US Embassy issued a similar warning to student visa applicants, noting that violations of US laws or arrests could lead to visa cancellation, deportation, or future ineligibility for US visas.

The embassy reiterated that failure to comply with visa conditions could have serious long-term consequences, affecting both current and future travel to the United States.
