Thiruvananthapuram: The political temperature in Kerala is set to rise as counting of votes for the recently held local body elections begins today. Vote counting will start at 8 am across 244 centres in the state, with the first indications of results expected by 8.30 am. The full picture is likely to emerge by the afternoon.
Postal ballots for elections to four district panchayats will be counted at the respective district collectorates under the direct supervision of district collectors. The State Election Commission has said that lead positions and final results will be made available in real time through its TREND online platform, ensuring transparency and instant access to updates.
Results from grama panchayat, municipality and corporation wards will be announced first. Election officials pointed out that municipalities and corporation wards account for a larger share of postal ballots, which may slightly influence the pace of counting. Counting for block and district panchayats is expected to be completed by evening.
Track results live: Voters and political observers can follow live trends and results through the State Election Commission’s official portals as the verdict unfolds.
