President Droupadi Murmu Arrives in Thiruvananthapuram Today; Grand Naval Power Display at Shanghumukham

Kerala’s capital is all set for a spectacular showcase of India’s maritime strength as President Droupadi Murmu arrives in Thiruvananthapuram today to attend the Navy Day celebrations at Shanghumukham Beach.

The President will land at Thiruvananthapuram airport in the morning, where she will be welcomed by Governor Arif Mohammed Khan and senior officials.

The highlight of the day will be the naval operational demonstration at 4 PM, led by Navy Chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar. This marks the first-ever Navy Day celebration hosted in Thiruvananthapuram, adding historic significance to the event.

More than 40 warships, including 19 major combat vessels, submarines, and 32 fighter aircraft, will take part in the spectacular display. The audience will witness some of India’s most advanced maritime assets, including the indigenously built aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, along with powerful warships such as INS Imphal, INS Kolkata, INS Trishul, and INS Talwar.

Sail training ships INS Tarangini and INS Sudarshini will also join the lineup, adding grandeur to the event. While 9,000 people will be allowed entry via passes, nearly one lakh spectators are expected to gather along the coast to witness the breathtaking show.

In view of the President’s visit, tight security measures have been put in place across Thiruvananthapuram.
