Prime Minister Narendra Modi today unveiled a towering 77-foot bronze statue of Lord Ram at the historic Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Mutt in South Goa — a landmark moment that marks the installation of the world’s tallest statue of Lord Ram. The grand ceremony drew thousands of devotees and marked the beginning of a spiritually vibrant day for the region.
The event forms part of the mutt’s 550-year celebration, known as the Sardha Panchashatamanotsava, an 11-day festival that runs from November 27 to December 7. The mutt, one of the oldest Vaishnavite institutions in the Konkan region, is hosting a series of religious, cultural, and community-focused programmes that are expected to attract nearly 10,000 visitors daily.
As part of the celebrations, PM Modi also inaugurated the newly developed Ramayana Theme Park Garden, showcasing episodes from the epic in an immersive setting. To commemorate the milestone, he released a special postal stamp and a commemorative coin, honouring the mutt’s centuries-old legacy.
Addressing devotees, the Prime Minister said the statue stands as a symbol of India’s cultural strength, spiritual continuity, and unwavering reverence for Lord Ram. The monumental installation is expected to become a major cultural and spiritual landmark in Goa, drawing pilgrims and tourists from across the world.
