PM Modi Urges Naspers to Boost Investments in India’s AI & Startup Ecosystem; Strengthens Strategic Partnership with Australia’s Albanese

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ramped up India’s global tech and strategic diplomacy with two key meetings on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg.

In a high-level discussion with Naspers Chairman Koos Bekker and CEO Fabricio Bloisi, PM Modi encouraged the global tech and investment giant to significantly expand its footprint in India, especially in the rapidly growing sectors of artificial intelligence, startups, space technology, and digital consumer markets. He applauded Naspers for its long-standing success in India, highlighting that their growth reflects the ease of doing business and the vibrant strength of India’s innovation ecosystem.

In another major diplomatic engagement, PM Modi met Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to review the progress of the nations’ Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The two leaders discussed deeper collaboration in defence and security, critical minerals, trade and investment, and people-to-people relations. Both sides expressed satisfaction over the steady expansion and diversification of bilateral ties and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in emerging global sectors.
