Winter Session of Parliament to Be Held from December 1 to 19: Key Bills and Discussions Expected

New Delhi: The Winter Session of Parliament will be held from December 1 to December 19, the government announced on Friday. The 19-day session is expected to witness crucial discussions on key legislative matters, economic issues, and policy developments ahead of the Union Budget 2026.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi confirmed the dates, stating that the session will include 15 sittings over 19 days. The agenda is likely to cover several significant bills, including those related to economic reforms, digital governance, and social welfare schemes.

The session is also expected to see debates on current national issues such as inflation, farmers’ concerns, unemployment, and the upcoming state elections. Opposition parties are preparing to corner the government on governance and policy lapses, while the ruling party plans to highlight its achievements and major development initiatives.

The Winter Session will be the last full parliamentary session before the 2026 Budget Session, making it strategically important for the government to push pending legislations and set the tone for upcoming political developments.

Officials have indicated that the new Parliament building will continue to host the proceedings, following its inauguration earlier this year. Security and administrative preparations are already underway for the session.
