West Bengal Registers Record 93.19% Turnout in First Phase of Assembly Polls

West Bengal recorded a historic voter turnout of 93.19 per cent in the first phase of Assembly elections, the Election Commission of India announced on Saturday.

Polling for the phase was held on April 23 across 152 assembly constituencies in 16 districts. Out of 3.61 crore eligible voters, around 3.36 crore people cast their votes.

According to officials, the turnout included approximately 1.65 crore women voters and 1.71 crore men, reflecting strong participation across the state.

The Commission said the record turnout marks the highest ever in West Bengal’s electoral history, highlighting increased public engagement in the democratic process.
