Weather Today (January 14): Isolated Rain Predicted for Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated rain across Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu on January 14 due to the influence of a cyclonic circulation over the region. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in parts of these states, with a possibility of heavy rainfall in isolated areas.

In Kerala, districts such as Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Pathanamthitta are under a Yellow Alert, indicating the likelihood of heavy rain measuring between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm over 24 hours. The IMD has also predicted thunderstorms and lightning in certain regions, urging residents to exercise caution.

Karnataka may experience light rainfall, particularly in coastal and southern districts, while Tamil Nadu could see scattered showers in coastal areas and some interior regions.

Meanwhile, the National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has issued an alert for rough seas along the Kerala and Tamil Nadu coasts. Fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into the sea until further notice due to the possibility of 0.5 to 1-meter-high waves and rough conditions.

The IMD has advised people to stay updated with weather warnings and follow safety guidelines, especially in areas prone to flooding or landslides.
