Walayar Rape and Murder: Kerala High Court Stalls CBI Action Against Victims’ Parents

Kochi – In a significant development, the Kerala High Court has halted any action against the parents of the Walayar rape and murder victims, granting them interim relief from the CBI’s charges. The ruling came as the court reviewed the parents’ petition seeking to quash the chargesheet.

The CBI had controversially named the victims’ parents as accused, alleging that they failed to protect their daughters from the perpetrators, thereby abetting the crime. However, the parents strongly refuted these claims, asserting that the investigation was biased and that they had been unjustly implicated.

Responding to the petition, the High Court directed the CBI to provide a detailed explanation regarding the allegations. Until a final verdict is reached, no legal action can be taken against the parents. The case is set to be reconsidered after the summer vacation, keeping the focus firmly on the quest for justice in the tragic Walayar case.
