Vande Bharat Sleeper Fares Revealed: Minimum ₹960 Ticket, Confirmed Travel Only Across Kerala

Chennai: The Railways have officially announced ticket fares for the much-awaited Vande Bharat Sleeper trains, setting a minimum fare of ₹960 in Third AC, making it the base price for travel anywhere in Kerala. Even passengers covering shorter distances will be charged for a minimum journey of 400 kilometres.

A key highlight of the new service is that only confirmed tickets will be issued. The Railways have clarified that RAC and waiting-list tickets will not be allowed, ensuring a hassle-free and fully confirmed travel experience for passengers.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper train will feature 11 Third AC coaches, four Second AC coaches, and one First AC coach, with a total capacity of 823 passengers.

Fare Structure:

  • Third AC: Minimum fare ₹960
  • Second AC: ₹1,240 for up to 400 km
  • First AC: ₹1,520 for up to 400 km

For distances beyond 400 km, fares will increase at a minimum rate of ₹4 per kilometre.

For long-distance journeys of up to 1,000 km, the fares are:

  • Third AC: ₹2,400
  • Second AC: ₹3,100
  • First AC: ₹3,800

The Railways also noted that GST will be charged in addition to the ticket fare. On a per-kilometre basis, passengers will be charged ₹2.4 for Third AC, ₹3.1 for Second AC, and ₹3.8 for First AC.

With its fixed minimum fares, confirmed-ticket-only policy, and modern sleeper coaches, the Vande Bharat Sleeper is set to redefine premium overnight rail travel in the state.
