Kochi: The Kerala High Court has directed that plastic bottles should be avoided at wedding ceremonies and replaced with glass bottles. “These small plastic bottles are creating havoc and can easily be replaced with glass bottles as a better alternative,” the Court stated.
The Court observed that plastic waste, especially from single-use bottles, is causing severe environmental damage. The judges emphasized that weddings and other large gatherings generate a significant amount of plastic waste, which can be reduced by switching to eco-friendly alternatives like glass bottles.
The ruling comes as part of a broader effort to curb plastic pollution in the state. The Court urged event organizers and catering services to adopt sustainable practices and avoid using disposable plastic products. Authorities have also been directed to ensure compliance with waste management regulations at public and private events.
