The UAE is all set to welcome the New Year with grand celebrations, featuring spectacular fireworks displays and a range of festive events across the country. Authorities have announced extended public transport services and strict security measures to ensure smooth celebrations.
In Dubai, metro services starting at 5 am on Wednesday, December 31, will continue uninterrupted until 11.59 pm on Thursday, January 1, operating for a total of 43 continuous hours. The extended service will be available on both the Red and Green Lines. The Dubai Tram will also run from 6 am on Wednesday until 1 am on Friday, officials said.
As part of the New Year celebrations, 43 fireworks displays have been arranged at 40 locations, including iconic landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa. To ensure public safety, thousands of police personnel and patrol vehicles have been deployed across the city.
Due to the celebrations, roads around the Burj Khalifa area will be closed from 4 pm on December 31, while Sheikh Zayed Road will be shut from around 11 pm. Authorities have advised people planning to attend the festivities to arrive early to avoid inconvenience and congestion.
