New Delhi: Two back-to-back earthquakes of magnitude 4.0 struck India early Monday morning, sending tremors across the Delhi-NCR region and Bihar’s Siwan district. While no casualties or major damage have been reported, the quakes caused momentary panic among residents.
Delhi-NCR Jolted at Dawn
At 5:36 AM IST, a 4.0 magnitude earthquake shook the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR). The National Center for Seismology (NCS) confirmed that the epicenter was near Dhaula Kuan in New Delhi, at a depth of 5 kilometers. The sudden tremor prompted many residents to rush out of their homes as a safety measure.
Bihar’s Siwan Feels the Tremors
Just a few hours later, at 8:02 AM IST, another 4.0 magnitude earthquake hit Siwan district in Bihar. This quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, sending mild tremors across the region and causing temporary evacuations.
No Casualties, Authorities Urge Caution
Thankfully, no loss of life or major structural damage has been reported from either quake. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged citizens to stay alert and follow safety protocols in case of aftershocks.
