Minister K. Muraleedharan has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of veteran actor Salim Kumar, describing his death as an irreparable loss to both the film industry and the political sphere.
Speaking on the actor’s passing, Muraleedharan said that Salim Kumar was a committed Congress supporter who remained steadfast in his political beliefs throughout his life. He noted that despite being one of Malayalam cinema’s most celebrated actors, Salim Kumar never sought personal benefits or favours during periods when the UDF was in power.
Muraleedharan recalled that the actor had openly stated that he would not compromise his political convictions even if it meant losing opportunities in the film industry. He also praised Salim Kumar’s dedication to the Congress party, saying that he often participated in election campaigns voluntarily, without waiting for an invitation.
Meanwhile, condolences have continued to pour in from across the film fraternity and beyond. Actor Mohanlal paid tribute to his longtime friend through a Facebook post, describing Salim Kumar as a close companion both within and outside the film industry.
Mohanlal remembered him as a socially conscious individual who closely observed public issues and never hesitated to express his views openly. Offering a heartfelt farewell, he paid tribute to his late friend with profound sadness.
The passing of Salim Kumar has prompted an outpouring of grief from colleagues, political leaders, and admirers, reflecting the immense impact he had on Malayalam cinema and public life.
