Supreme Court to Hear Plea Seeking CBI Probe into Karur Stampede on October 10

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing on October 10 for a plea seeking a CBI investigation into the tragic Karur stampede. The plea was filed by BJP leader Uma Anandan, who has demanded a thorough and independent inquiry into the incident to ensure accountability.

A Bench headed by the Chief Justice of India took note of the appeal during proceedings, marking the next step in the legal process for the high-profile case. The Karur stampede, which caused widespread outrage, has raised serious questions about safety measures and crowd management during public events in the state.

The petitioner has urged the Supreme Court to direct the CBI to take over the investigation from the local authorities, citing concerns about impartiality and the need for a detailed probe.

The case is expected to draw significant attention as it addresses issues of public safety, administrative accountability, and preventive measures to avoid such tragedies in the future.
