Supreme Court Declines to Halt India-Pakistan Clash, Says ‘Let the Match Happen’

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday refused to consider a plea seeking cancellation of the much-anticipated India-Pakistan cricket match scheduled for Sunday.

A bench of Justices J. K. Maheshwari and Vijay Bishnoi turned down the urgent hearing request, remarking, “Why the rush? It’s just a match — let it happen. What can we do about it?”

The plea, filed by four law students, argued that cricket should not take precedence over national interest, citing the recent Pahalgam terror attacks. They also demanded that cricket be brought under the ambit of the National Sports Federation.

The court, however, dismissed the urgency and cleared the way for the high-voltage encounter to go ahead as planned.
