New Delhi: The Supreme Court has termed as “unfortunate” the mention of a fuel cut-off by the pilot in the preliminary Air India crash report, raising fresh concerns over aviation safety and transparency in official investigations.
The aviation safety NGO Safety Matters Foundation has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), alleging that the preliminary report withholds crucial information about the circumstances leading up to the accident. The NGO stressed that full disclosure is vital to prevent future tragedies and ensure accountability in the aviation sector.
While hearing the PIL, the Supreme Court highlighted the importance of transparency and thorough investigation before drawing any conclusions. The matter is expected to come up for detailed consideration in upcoming hearings.
Aviation experts note that timely and complete disclosure of such critical details is essential to strengthen safety protocols and prevent recurrence of similar incidents.
