Soubin Shahir in Trouble: Police Serve Notice in ₹7 Crore ‘Manjummel Boys’ Fraud Case

Kochi: Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir finds himself at the center of a financial controversy as police have served him a notice in connection with a ₹7 crore investment fraud linked to the hit film Manjummel Boys. Alongside producers Babu Shahir and Shawn Antony, he has been ordered to appear before the investigation team within 14 days.

The complaint was filed by businessman Siraj, who claims that despite investing a total of ₹7 crore in the film across multiple transactions, neither his capital nor the promised ₹40 crore profit share was returned. The FIR accuses the trio of criminal conspiracy, cheating, breach of trust, and forgery—all non-bailable offences.

According to the complaint, on November 30, 2022, ₹5.99 crore was transferred to the account of Parava Films, followed by ₹50 lakh to Shawn Antony’s account, and another ₹51 lakh was handed over in cash. Despite these hefty payments, Siraj alleges he received no returns.

The Kerala High Court had earlier dismissed a plea to quash the case, ruling that the investigation must proceed.

The incident has sparked widespread debate in the film fraternity, raising serious concerns about financial ethics and transparency in the Malayalam movie industry.
