Massive waterlogging along the banks of Vembanad Lake has forced hundreds of families to flee their homes in search of safer shelter. The crisis has severely impacted daily wage workers, many of whom have been left with no choice but to relocate to rented accommodations.
According to reports, around 1,500 families across five wards have been affected by the flooding, with stagnant water making living conditions unbearable. Residents are struggling with health risks, loss of livelihoods, and lack of basic amenities.
The situation has raised serious concerns about drainage infrastructure and climate resilience in the region, as water levels continue to remain high, making a return to normalcy uncertain.
