Scorching Heat Continues in Kerala; Temperatures May Soar by 4°C, Rain Brings Some Relief to 10 Districts

Kerala remains in the grip of intense heat as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warns of soaring temperatures, with some areas expected to experience a rise of 2 to 4°C above normal levels. However, a silver lining emerges as 10 districts brace for rainfall and strong winds.

Moderate showers are forecasted in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Idukki, while Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Malappuram may witness light rain. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, reaching speeds of 30 to 50 km/h, are also expected in parts of the state.

As the scorching temperatures persist, health risks such as heatstroke, sunburn, and dehydration are on the rise. The State Disaster Management Authority has issued safety advisories, urging residents to take necessary precautions and stay protected from the extreme heat.
