Kozhikode: The district administrations of Kozhikode and Wayanad have declared a holiday for all educational institutions on Wednesday, July 8, following the Red Alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the forecast of heavy rainfall and strong winds.
The holiday applies to all educational institutions, including schools, colleges, professional colleges, tuition centres and madrasas, except residential educational institutions. Anganwadis in both districts will also remain closed.
The decision was taken in view of widespread waterlogging reported in several areas and the warning of continued heavy rain and gusty winds over the coming days, with authorities aiming to prevent rain-related accidents and disasters.
However, university examinations and Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) examinations scheduled for July 8 will be conducted as planned without any change.
