New Delhi: The Supreme Court has stepped in to resolve the ongoing standoff between the Kerala government and Governor Arif Mohammed Khan over the appointment of Vice Chancellors in state universities.
A Bench suggested that both the state government and the Governor propose four names each, after which the court will constitute a search committee to finalise the full-time VC appointments.
The move is aimed at breaking the deadlock that has stalled several key appointments in Kerala’s higher education sector. The court’s intervention comes amid a prolonged dispute over the Governor’s role as Chancellor and the state’s authority in university administration.
