Saudi Air Defense Forces successfully intercepted missile and drone attacks targeting several parts of Saudi Arabia early Wednesday morning. According to officials, the attacks were aimed at residential and key areas in the capital Riyadh, as well as Al Kharj and the Eastern Province. Defense forces shot down two drones that were heading toward the high-security embassy district in Riyadh. Another drone was also disabled soon after, said Turki al-Maliki, spokesperson of the Defense Ministry.
A ballistic missile was also launched toward the Ameer Sultan Air Base. Authorities confirmed that it was intercepted in mid-air before reaching its target. Earlier, civil defense authorities in Al Kharj had issued an emergency alert warning of a possible attack. Officials later confirmed that the situation is now under control and there is no immediate threat.
