Mumbai: Filmmaker Priyadarshan on Monday dismissed allegations that a song from his upcoming film Bhooth Bangla was inspired by a classic track from Satyajit Ray’s 1969 film Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne.
The clarification came after the hook line of the song “Ram Ji Bhala Karein” was noted to resemble “Bhuter Raja Dilo Bor” from Ray’s film, sparking speculation on social media.
Responding to the claims, Priyadarshan said he holds deep respect for Satyajit Ray and denied borrowing lines from the earlier work. He added that similarities and repetition of expressions are not unusual in the film industry. The filmmaker’s response comes amid ongoing discussions online comparing the two songs.
